New President Letter to the Parents

Mar. 05, 2026

As the newly chosen President of Kindersley Soccer, I would first like to thank everyone who attended our Annual General Meeting. Your continued interest and involvement are vital to the success of soccer in our community.

I would also like to extend a sincere thank you to our outgoing President, Daniel Lubberts, for his years of dedication and commitment to Kindersley Soccer. His time invested have helped shape and grow the organization, and we are grateful for the work he has done.

I am pleased to welcome several new members to the board this season. Thank you to Serge Morgotch - Vice President, Katie Ness - Secretary, Dallen Watson - Field & Equipment Coordinator, and Torii Muzyka - U5-U9 Coordinator for stepping forward to volunteer their time and help guide the future of soccer in Kindersley.

I would also like to thank Kelty Heeks - Ramp Admin/Tournament Coordinator and Kendra Schoff - U11-U17 Coordinator for putting their names forward again and continuing their work on the board. Your experience and dedication are greatly appreciated. In addition, thank you to Katherine Leach - Media Coordinator and Kirsten Fisher - Treasurer - for their continued commitment and service to the organization.

Immediately following the AGM, the newly formed board held its first meeting where an important decision was made regarding the format of soccer in Kindersley moving forward.

Following feedback from our members, the board voted to move toward a house league format with tournament opportunities for players/parents who wish to participate, rather than continuing with the separate Rec and Storm divisions. The goal of this change is to provide more game opportunities for all players, at all skill levels, while ensuring equal opportunities are available to everyone who wants to participate in soccer in our community.

The Storm program has seen varying levels of success over the years. However, in recent seasons declining numbers have made it increasingly difficult to consistently assemble truly competitive teams of players and coaches.

For existing and past Storm players, parents, and coaches, Storm is not gone. This change is more of a rebranding of how we organize our programming. Our hope is to create more gameplay opportunities throughout the season for all players, while still providing opportunities for teams to participate in tournaments under the Kindersley Storm banner.

The board believes that developing a higher level of skilled players and coaches begins with creating a more engaging and inclusive experience starting at the U5 level and continuing through all age groups. By focusing on the development and enjoyment of all our players collectively, we hope to strengthen connections between players, coaches, and parents, and foster a lifelong love of the game.

Our goal is to build a strong foundation that will help soccer continue to grow and thrive in Kindersley while providing more opportunities for kids to get on the field and play.

Thank you for your continued support of Kindersley Soccer as we look forward to the upcoming season.
